Hailee Steinfeld has got her hands full recently, with an impressive lineup of three movies out in as many weeks, USA Today reports.
She was a part of the blockbuster film "Pitch Perfect 2," the animated movie "When Marnie Was There," and the action-comedy "Barely Lethal."
She became one of the most sought-after young actresses in Hollywood after earning an Academy Award nomination for "Best Supporting Actress" for the 2010 film "True Grit." She was just 14 years old at that time.
In addition, her performance in "Pitch Perfect 2" has paved the way to opening up another career opportunity.
The American actress, singer, and model has just scored a record deal with Republic Records, a division of Universal, and the very same label music stars Ariana Grande and Lorde are under contract with, the Mashable notes.
"Hailee is a multi-talented artist and among her many gifts, her voice is both unique and undeniable. It's exciting to have her join the Republic family," the record label's co-founder and CEO, Monte Lipman, said in a statement.
It's no secret that Hailee and Taylor Swift make beautiful music together outside the limelight as close pals, but on the question of whether they, too, could be on the same page together (lyrically speaking), the "Barely Lethal" star is playing a little coy about her answer.
Hailee responded with "an adorably shy 'maybe'" during her interview with ET Online. At least, she did not dismiss the rumor that she'll be collaborating with her "Shake it Off" singer BFF.
The idea of a collaboration between the two artists is not far-fetched considering the close ties that the two have developed over the years. Hailee was even featured as "The Trinity" in Taylor's "Bad Blood" music video..
She became more comfortable with her singing, thanks largely to her breakthrough performance in the hit musical sequel, where she sang live and gave her own rendition of the song "Flashlight."
"I realised not only could I not match myself lip-syncing, it was just easier to go live. Singing is something I've always loved to do, and I'd never considered taking it further than the shower," she said in an interview with the FLARE magazine, which the Mirror cited.
The 18-year-old actress considers landing the role of "Emily" a dream come true. She did not have much trouble transitioning into film and doing "Pitch Perfect 2" because she admitted that she has seen the first movie in 2012 "a million times."
"There was this strange feeling that I was already a part of it," she said.
