The iPad Mini 4 has found a worthy competitor in the Xiaomi Pad 2. However, the question on which tablet device is better remains unanswered.
Below is a comparison of the two devices to give users an idea on which tablet meets their needs better.
iPad Mini 4
According to Christian Today, the Apple tablet will likely come out by October and it is expected to improve on the shortcomings of the iPad Mini 3.
The same report noted that the device will come with a 7.9-inch display and will be thinner than the current release. It is also claimed to have an A9 processor and will run on the iOS 9. A Touch ID sensor is also expected from the device.
The iPad Mini 4 does not yet have a price tag but Christian Today said it could be pegged cheaper than the $399 price of the iPad Mini 3.
A similar Macworld report noted that the device may also come with a 2GB RAM and 802.11ac WiFi.
Once the new device becomes available in the market, Apple will reportedly discontinue two of the current iPad mini models: the original iPad Mini and the iPad Mini 3.
Users may have varying opinions on this as the removal of these devices could be beneficial to some while it could work the other way for others.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 2
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said that their Mi Pad tablet is doing very well in the market. He also noted that they will continue to provide the best experience for their users, PhoneArena has learned.
The company head dismissed rumors that they will already be pulling out the device from the market, but he did not mention if they will have another device coming after the Mi Pad.
Howver, a GSM Arena report insisted that there are still rumors of the company releasing a Mi Pad 2.
"The supposed future tablet has borrowed design elements from the Mi Note/Mi Note Pro flagship phablet pair, resulting in more refined looks than the all-plastic predecessor," added the GSM Arena report.
The upcoming device will reportedly have a similar overall layout as the Mi pad and will have a central earpiece and sensor arrangement.
Leaked images of the device show a metal frame for the tablet which gives it a solid support without adding that much to the total weight.
"Now that earpiece hints at a 3G/LTE version as well, as opposed to the Wi-Fi only first-gen. The report claims that the new version will come with Android 5.0 out of the box, skinned with the company's home-brewed MIUI 6 overlay," explained the same report.
PhoneArena noted that the original Xiaomi Mi Pad was released in the market in June 2014 adding that it was intended to be the Android-based rival of the iPad Mini series.
It features a 7.9-inch display with a resolution of 1536 by 2048 pixels at 324 PPI and a 4:3 aspect ratio. It has a 32-bit Nvidia Tegra K1 chipset, a 2.2GHz quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU and a ULP GeForce Kepler GPU.
