The last month of 2013 has brought the technosphere a slew of rumors about Samsung's rumored next-gen flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5. The latest? An impressive 2K HD display and more information on the device's antenna technology.

Although the listing has since been taken down, a mysterious Samsung phone model SM-G900S was recently spotted in benchmark results over at GFXBench. According to the benchmarks, the SM-G900S sports a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, an Adreno 330 GPU, and Android 4.4 KitKat — all specs the Galaxy S5 has been reported to have. The real kicker though? The display.

If the GFXBench benchmarks are correct, and the handset in question is indeed the Galaxy S5, then Samsung's next-gen flagship is going to rock a 5.25-inch screen with 2560X1440 resolution. This translates to a pixel density of 560 pixels per inch and would give the Galaxy S5 a 2K HD display, a new plateau for mainstream Android smartphones.

Samsung has not yet even confirmed the existence of the Galaxy S5, so it's best to treat these benchmarks with some skepticism. Even if the SM-G900S is the Galaxy S5, actual specs at the time of release might vary. Still, it seems to the fit the description of the Galaxy S5 based on early reports, and, in any case, might be a good indicator of what to expect from the Android phone market in 2014.

Other rumored specs for the Galaxy S5 include 3GB RAM, a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a monstrous 4,000mAh battery (presumably to help power the high-def display).

A separate Korean report states that Samsung will utilize LDS antenna technology on some Galaxy S5s. LDS antennas are embedded into the rear plate of the phone, between the internal circuitry and the battery. The reason the report states only some Galaxy S5s will utilize LDS antennas is probably because Samsung is reported to be interested in releasing two main variants of the Samsung Galaxy S5: a "premium" model with a metal casing, and a normal variant with the usual polycarbonate body. SamMobile states that the LDS antennas would most likely be used in the plastic model.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to release around March or April 2014.
