Grammy Awards 2014 Nominations: Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore, Lorde Up for Top Awards

Justin Timberlake, Kendrick Lamar and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are just a few of the artists leading the way in this year's Grammy Award nominations.
The nominations were announced Friday during a concert at the Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live in Los Angeles, which was broadcast on CBS-TV, reports the LA Times.
In the lead with nine nominations is hip-hop mogul Jay-Z, while newbies Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Kendrick Lamar were recognized in several major categories, the New York Post reports.
Macklemore and Lewis, who, picked up a nominations for Song of the Year for their gay marriage anthem "Same Love" were among the nominees in the Best New Artist catergory along with Compton rapper Lamar. Both artists also received seven nominations apiece.
Pharrell Williams, who is nominated for Best Producer, scooped up seven nominations. Justin Timberlake also had seven.
New Australian artist Lorde was recognized in the record and Song of the Year categories for her hit song "Royals," while her album "Pure Heroine" was nominated for pop vocal album.
The Grammy Award winners are chosen by a group of 12,000 voting members of the Recording Academy, which includes musicians, producers, engineers, songwriters, record company employees and others. The eligibility period for the 2013 awards spans recordings released from Oct. 1, 2012, to Sept. 30, 2013.
The Grammy Awards will take place on Jan. 26 at Staples Center and will be broadcast live on CBS.
