After all the sex and violence surrounding HBO's hit series, "Game of Thrones," you'd think that people will be more accepting of the fates of the characters that they have been rooting for from the start. However, that is far from reality as throngs of fans took to social media their enraged reactions from last episode's "Black Wedding," aka Sansa Stark's (Sophie Turner) marriage to Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon).

While GOT fans know that the show is not about puppies and rainbow-spitting unicorns, and as Independent UK noted, it has already been criticized for its portrayal of women. However, Ramsay's rape of his new bride has unsettled a lot of people especially since he forced an already traumatized Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) to watch as he does the deed.

Now, this is not new in "Game of Thrones." The Daily Beast was quick to point out that if fans remember, the same thing happened to Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) when she wed the leader of the Dorthraki warlords, Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa).

Last year, Jamie Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) forced himself upon his twin sister Cersei (Lena Headey) next to the dead body of their son.

Fans are outraged over the unfairness of Sansa Stark's fate but actress Sophie Turner brushed off the criticism of the episode and admitted that she "secretly loved" filming one of her most brutal scenes to date. She told Entertainment Weekly, "When I read that scene, I kinda loved it. I love the way Ramsay had Theon watching. It was all so messed up. It's also so daunting for me to do it."

She also shared, "I've been making [producer Bryan Cogman] feel so bad for writing that scene: 'I can't believe you're doing this to me!' But I secretly loved it."

However, Turner was not oblivious to the audience's reactions, especially considering that her character has already been abused enough while in King's Landing with Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson).

She also felt their pain for her character, saying, "After Joffrey, she's escaped him and you think she's going to lose her virginity to a guy who's really sweet and takes care of her and she's thrown in with a guy who's a whole lot worse. But I kind of like the fact she doesn't really know what a psycho he is until that night. She has a sense, but she's more scared of his father. And then that night everything gets so f-ked up."

It seems that Sansa is not going to have her happy ever after on the show yet but at least she's not yet dead and fans can still root for her. Sooner or later, worse things could happen. Valar Morghulis, after all.
