Jessica Alba's non-toxic consumer goods company almost made the actress quit her acting career for good.
In a recent interview with HELLO! Fashion Monthly, the "Sin City" star revealed that she considered retiring from Hollywood because of The Honest Company.
"It's tempting to leave acting completely and focus on my company. It's definitely more fulfilling. And when I put my time into it, I feel like I'm doing something that's productive and there's a real outcome," Alba told the magazine. "With entertainment, I feel like you're just throwing stuff against the wall and you don't know if anyone's going to see it."
Alba launched The Honest Company alongside former Healthy Child Healthy World CEO Christopher Gavigan three years ago, HFM magazine wrote. The organization manufactures eco-friendly and non-toxic consumer goods, and aims to educate parents about keeping their children safe from harmful chemicals.
The 34-year-old actress is married to Cash Warren and now has two daughters, 6-year-old Honor Marie and Haven Garner, 3. Despite looking better with age, Alba insists that she looked like "a hot mess" in her early 20s, adding that she made herself transform her fashion style and diet into something which suits her attitude best, HFM Magazine added.
"My idea of how I need to look has completely changed," Alba told the magazine. "I used to listen to stylists and make-up artists and hairdressers that I didn't know that well, and they would just doll me up how they wanted to and I would look crazy. Basically anything before I was 24, I looked crazy, just wrong. There are lots of photos of me out there looking like a hot mess!"
Alba also revealed that she didn't care about weight "as much after having kids," HFM added, explaining that her body looks different now than it was before but she's totally fine with it. As for her workout routine, the Braun world ambassador said that she wasn't as strict as she used to be when it comes to exercising, but she admits that she does various forms of keeping her body fit. Alba also eats fresh food and avoids processed, dairy, and fried meals.
"I don't feel any pressure to stay in shape for anyone else," she explained to the magazine. "When I was younger, I used to do the 'body builder' diet, which is awful. Everything is steamed and it's just a handful of everything. I hated my life, it was so miserable! Having some sort of balance and moderation is key."
Alba recently appeared in Taylor Swift's music video for "Bad Blood," Daily Mail noted. The video showcased girl power as it featured a host of famous female celebrities such as Selena Gomez, Cara Delevingne, Hailee Steinfeld, and Lena Dunham.
According to Daily Mail, Alba has three upcoming films this year and just finished shooting for 2016's "Mechanic: Resurrection," which also stars Jason Statham.
