The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 isn't due for a major upgrade until Android 4.4 KitKat, but in the meantime the South Korean electronics manufacturer has started pushing out a small stability update for international models.
The update, build JSS15J.N900XXUCMK2, only applies to Samsung Galaxy Note 3 models with an Exynos processor (U.S. models run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset) and weighs in at 30MB. It's nothing special, and the only changes officially listed are stability improvements.
The update has been reported in Thailand, Russia, and a few other countries. Due to the phased nature of Android rollouts, not everybody will have access to the stability fix immediately, although that should change over the coming days.
It won't be too long, however, until Samsung Galaxy Note 3 owners around the globe receive a more substantial firmware upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat. A recently-leaked Samsung India R&D document indicates that Samsung is hoping to push out Android 4.4 KitKat by January 2014. Samsung has not commented on the matter, however, so it's still best to exercise skepticism. The popular OEM has run into trouble recently upgrading some of its flagships to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, with technical issues delaying Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 upgrades. Let's hope the Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update doesn't suffer a similar fate.
