Not everyone is set to play the fame game, least of all, Robert Pattinson's girlfriend, FKA Twigs, who found out the hard way that she's getting more than she bargained for when she started dating the "Twilight" star in September.
Considering Pattinson's fame, getting hounded by paparazzi may be normal for him, but it's a different story for his girlfriend, who is not as fond of the Hollywood glitz and glamor than the average star. She told the New York Times, "It's really hard - I can't begin to explain how awful it is. It makes you want to just stop everything sometimes. It makes you want to smash your face into the mirror."
Even more difficult for the 27-year-old Brit, whose real name is Tahliah Barnett, is the fact that not everyone is ready to embrace racial diversity. She said racial insults have been hurled on her through social media. She shared, "It's relentless. There's no amount of songs I can sing or dances I can dance that will prove to them I'm not a monkey."
However, despite the nasty comments her way, she is not letting them get to her and her relationship with her beau. "Nothing can impale my work or make me choose not to say things a certain way or make an image the way I want.. I didn't see my life going this way at all. But it's worth it. I'm so happy," she added in the New York Times report.
NME also noted that FKA Twigs is also standing up to her bullies, telling the media that she stood up to her racist critics. She said, in an interview with Radio 1's Stories, "I didn't want them to see me being bullied and not stand up for myself because ultimately I'm 10 times stronger than somebody hiding behind a weird name on Twitter. I wanted to show that I can stand up for myself so then hopefully another person will see that and want to stand up for themselves."
Media scrutiny and paparazzi problems aside, Mirror UK noted that the two lovebirds, who are rumored to be tying the knot soon, were allegedly vocal about not getting a pre-nup. According to the news outlet, the 29-year-old actor, who is said to be worth about $60 million, is finding it unnecessary to protect his fortune as he does not want to marry someone if he thinks it won't last.
Citing Star Magazine, Mirror UK said a source close to Pattinson explained, "Rob's quite a traditionalist and is madly in love with her, so he doesn't think it's necessary. He's following his heart on this, rather than his head."
Aren't they cute? The wedding is said to happen by September to a low-key ceremony that a source from Life & Style magazine said, "She wants a hippie-style ceremony at a friend's house in the English countryside."
