Golf superstar Tiger Woods admitted that his girlfriend, Olympic champion skier Lindsey Vonn, convinced him to be more active in using Twitter, even though he has an old-school philosophy.
Woods, who has been a user of the micro-blogging social networking site since 2009, only tweeted 311 times despite having 3.7 million followers. On the other hand, Vonn has posted almost 2,000 times on Twitter but only has 245,000 followers.
The 14-time Grand Slam champion said Vonn convinced him to abandon his old-school ways and start connecting with his fans online by posting more comments and pictures on Twitter.
"I grew up in a different era and it's a little bit different for me. I'm still a little bit old school. I'm kind of getting towards it, but still not quite grasping the whole concept yet. But I'll get there eventually," Woods said in an interview with ESPN UK ahead of the World Challenge.
"As far as [Vonn] convincing me to tweet more, yes, she certainly has hinted that," He added.
Woods is scheduled to compete in this weekend's World Challenge while Vonn is currently training for the upcoming Sochi Winter Olympics next year.
Tiger Woods' World Challenge Relocation
The 37-year old Woods announced that the season-ending World Challenge will be relocated to the Isleworth club in Florida starting next year.
The World Challenge, an 18-man invitational tournament hosted yearly by Woods, has been held at Sherwood Country Club in California for the last 14 years. However, Woods decided to bring his tournament to the same club, where he spent almost all his childhood before he turned professional in 1996.
Isleworth club is considered one of the toughest golf courses to play in the United States, making next year's tournament more challenging for the participants. Woods also struck a partnership with the golf course's owner Tavistock Group. Proceeds of the invitational tournament will go to the beneficiaries of the Woods and Tavistock's foundations.
"We have a longstanding relationship with Tavistock Group and my friend, Joe Lewis, and I am thrilled to see it grow in support of our foundations,'' Woods said."I'm looking forward to this next phase of the World Challenge and what it can bring to Florida," Woods told ESPN UK.
