The story of Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark, and Gale Hawthorne (Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth) will continue in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part II," which is set to premiere on November 20. However, Lionsgate is already as excited as the fans to see the official trailer released, and it's set to premiere on May 22, as noted by Vine Report.

According to MTV News, director Francis Lawrence said that "Mockingjay" is set to be a "real war movie," a direct contrast to the personal battles that Katniss has faced in the first part of the two-part film.

If the film will stay true to the original material, it will focus on the rebels' offensive against the powerful Capitol, involving plenty of casualties and sacrifice for the rebellion.

The Inquisitr also said that Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer is open to expanding the franchise to explore more of the relationships between Katniss, Peeta, and Gale. If this were the case, then there is a possibility that the film will deviate from the original ending wherein Katniss and Peeta end up together, while Gale is working for the new government.

One of the additional movies being considered by studio executives, is a love story between Gale and Katniss before she became one of the champions for their district. Feltheimer said, "[We're] actively looking at some development and thinking about prequel and sequel possibilities."

In other "Mockingjay Part II" news, Lionsgate has also released a commemorative poster of Katniss and her sister, Primrose (played by Willow Shields) before the trailer drops on May 22.

Flickering Myth cited the official synopsis, which read:

"With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss confronts President Snow (Donald Sutherland) in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends - including Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (Sam Claflin), and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) - Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit from District 13 as they risk their lives to stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games."

Acting alongside the main cast are Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Julianne Moore, Mahershala Ali, Natalie Dormer, Wes Chatham, Elden Henson, and Evan Ross.
