Despite being more than three years away, a number of pundits, media outlets and elected officials have already begun offering their predictions for the 2016 presidential race. However, there's one politician who is refusing to play the guessing game—President Barack Obama.
In an exclusive MSNBC interview, TV host Chris Matthews asked the president to "compare and contrast" the presidential qualities between Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden, the top Democratic picks to likely to run in the next election.
Not surprisingly, Obama wouldn't budge.
He quickly quipped "Not a chance am I going there," adding that he believes that they would both make "outstanding" presidents. He also carefully avoided giving any sign of which candidate he favors.
"I think Joe Biden will go down in history as one of the best vice presidents - ever," Obama said, reports New York Magazine. "And he has been with me, at my side, in every tough decision that I've made, from going after Bin Laden to dealing with the health care issues to - you name it, he's been there."
Likewise, he played it safe by calling Clinton "one of the finest" secretaries of state ever. "[She] helped to transition us away from a deep hole that we were in when I first came into office, around the world, and to rebuild confidence and trust in the United States," Obama said.
He then emphasized that "they've got different strengths, but both of them would be outstanding," reported USA Today.
Looks like we'll have to wait until 2016 to find out who the president will support.
