"Whiplash" actor Miles Teller may only be a superhero in films -- he is set to appear in a remake of "Fantastic Four" as Mr. Fantastic -- but that does not mean he can't be a hero in his own way.

In a report by US Magazine, it was revealed that the actor rescued a pregnant lady and her toddler in Miami Beach this weekend, with photographs showing him leading a pregnant lady to safety, her toddler in tow. Then the 28-year-old actor escorted her and her child with the help of his girlfriend Keleigh Sperry.

While many reports indicated that Teller was saving the woman from a riptide, it seems that this is not exactly the case. In a separate article from The Daily Mail, it was noted that the woman was the one who saved the actor from a possible shark attack.

TMZ reported that Teller's girlfriend said that the woman may have saved the actor's life first as she warned him about a suspected shark that she saw prowling nearby. The woman came up to them and was freaking out as the predator was in a striking distance, her panic understandable considering that she had her daughter on her back.

It was then that Mr. Fantastic onscreen also became an off-screen hero as he sprang into action and helped the pair get safely to shore.

The 22-year-old Sperry later wrote about the incident on Instagram, saying that the woman was warning them, as she was thinking that there was a shark in the water. She wrote, "She came up to us freaking out. She was] telling us to not freak out but It was a shark. And the scariest moment ever hahah poor lady. :(( pregnant with a toddler on her back."

If that were the case, it seems that the actor and the unidentified pregnant lady saved each other from harm.

Teller's new project

Earlier reports indicate that Teller was not at the beach merely to chill and hang out with his girlfriend for a romantic getaway. Apparently, he was there for work purposes as he and Jonah Hill, together with their co-star Ana De Armas, were filming a new comedy called "Arms And The Dudes."

The film is said to be based on Guy Lawson's Rolling Stone article which is about two men from Miami Beach who became arms dealers for the U.S. Government, according to the Daily Mail. The film is helmed by "Hangover" director Todd Phillips, who is also producing the project with Bradley Cooper and Mark Gordon.
