Miss Universe Paulina Vega has been tapped by Colombian singer Carlos Vives to appear in his music video for "Las Cosas de La Vida."
According to Billboard, Vega's status as the reigning Miss Universe has prevented shooting for the music video to be quiet. Scenes for the clip were filmed in the beauty queen's hometown of Barranquilla, Colombia.
Locations include Intendencia Fluvial, "a recently restored building originally from 1926 which is now a museum and cultural center," Billboard wrote. The video shows the past and present, hailing from the usual style Vives is known for in his music videos.
The clip also "draws heavily from Colombian scenery" and focuses on the story of a man and a woman who met as children and crossed paths once again as grown-ups, the news outlet added.
"Las Cosas de La Vida" was directed by Christopher Sims, who also worked with other musical artists such as Christina Aguilera, Usher, Ne-Yo, Ludacris, and Stone Temple Pilots.
Check out behind-the-scenes photos of the music video below posted by Vives on his Instagram page.
This was not the first time that Vives employed beauty queens to grace his music videos. He met his current wife, former Miss Colombia Claudia Elena Vasquez, in the filming of his music video for "Déjame Entrar" back in 2002, Billboard wrote. Last year, Vasquez also appeared in the 53-year-old singer's music video for "Bailar Contigo," a beautiful and romantic clip showcasing two lovers from the 1950s.
Aside from Vasquez, Vives also worked with former Miss Colombia and actress Paola Turbay last year for "Cuando Nos Volvamos a Encontrar," the news outlet noted. The video also featured singer Marc Anthony.
Anthony and Vives are collaborating on a concert tour called UNIDO2, which also means "United" part 2, a separate report from Billboard wrote. The tour, which will see the two Latin artists performing in 11 U.S. venues, is presented by Cardenas Marketing Network (CMN), which is also responsible for producing and booking Anthony's international performances.
According to the news outlet, UNIDO2 will begin with two shows at Puerto Rico's Coliseum on September 11 and 12, continuing in Las Vegas, Canada, and Chicago, among others. The tour will also make stops for two nights at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles and two nights at Miami's American Airlines Arena.
For the complete list of tour dates and venues for UNIDO2, check out Billboard's report.
On April 30, Vives graced the Billboard Latin Music Awards held in Coral Gables, Florida with a performance, The Evening Sun reported. Other artists who also entertained the audience in the event are Jennifer Lopez, Juanes, Carlos Santana, and Daddy Yankee.
