The alleged sequel to 2014's Xiaomi Mi 4 -- the Xiaomi Mi 5 -- continues to tour the headlines, as new leaks suggestive of its features hit the web. According to Christian Today, the device is even expected to arrive with a larger companion, dubbed the Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus.
At this point, Xiaomi has not confirmed details about the purported handsets. Nevertheless, speculations have it that the Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus will make formal introduction in July, Christian Today reported.
That being said, a Q3 / Q4 release date appears to be viable, though we still have to take this with a pinch of salt.
We've curated the latest information surrounding the expected flagship, and set them against the existing Mi 4. Check them out below.
Display
The Mi 5 is speculated to sport a 5.2-inch display, Christian Today noted. This screen is pegged to house a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels, rendering Quad-HD.
Predecessor Mi 4 comes with a 5-inch screen, GSMArena listed. This display brings a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. If Mi 5 details hold truth, we're bound to see it bigger and visually-clearer than the current flagship.
Processor, RAM & Storage
As told by BREATHEcast, the Mi 5 is rumored to pack Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor, despite allegations of heating issues. In addition, the device is touted to have 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage.
Meanwhile, the Mi 4 runs Qualcomm's Snapdragon 801 chip, coupled by 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB / 64 GB internal storage options, GSMArena noted. It's easy to point that we're seeing the difference in terms of processor, but we'll have to wait for Xiaomi's confirmation.
Camera
With regards to photography, the Mi 5's rear camera is touted to capture at 16 MP, while its front snapper could shoot at 8 MP, the Ecumenical News cited.
The Mi 4 is equipped with a 13 MP main camera supported by autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, panorama and HDR. Its selfie snapper, on the other hand, captures at 8 MP and records 1080p at 30fps.
Battery
According to the Ecumenical News, the Mi 5 is purported to pack a 3,600 mAh battery, a clear upgrade from its predecessor's 3,080 mAh powerhouse.
Price
The Venture Capital Post cited rumors, which claimed that the Mi 5 will sell for $399 or 1850 Yuan.
Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus
The Mi 5 Plus is believed to come with a gargantuan 6-inch screen, which may not be surprising given its name. BGR noted that it's also expected to run in 2K, "near bezel-less" display, along with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage.
