The lawyers of convicted murderer and former NFL player Aaron Hernandez will soon be going back to court as they defend their client for a double-murder charge.
Yahoo Sports said a status hearing has been set on May 21 at the Suffolk County Superior Court for the double-murder charge stemming from a 2012 shooting in Boston, but Hernandez will not yet be appearing in court, yet.
Hernandez allegedly opened fire on an SUV last July 2012 which killed two men and wounded another.
Yahoo Sports added that based on the allegations of prosecutors, Hernandez and his friend Alexander Bradley were hanging out at Cure when Daniel de Abreu bumped into Hernandez and spilled his drink. This reportedly angered Hernandez who allegedly left the club in rage and waited inside his silver SUV for de Abreu to leave.
"At 2:10 a.m., video shows Hernandez's SUV circling the block as de Abreu, Safiro Furtado and three others walk to a BMW. Shortly thereafter, prosecutors allege Hernandez pulled alongside the BMW at a stoplight and opened fire on the car, killing de Abreu, 29, and Furtado, 28, and injuring a third passenger," explained Yahoo Sports.
According to Boston Globe, Abreu was a police officer in Cape Verde and wanted to work in law enforcement in the U.S. while Furtado who was a tour guide in the same country transferred to the United States to find a job "where he could use his language skills."
There were no known suspects for the case for almost a year until the police found the silver SUV in Bristol, Conn., during the investigation of the death of Odin Lloyd where he was found guilty for first-degree murder.
Yahoo Sports said that there were no eye witnesses who testified against Hernandez on Lloyd's death but this time Bradley is expected to spill the beans against him and identify him as the shooter. It also said that one of the victims' passengers during the attack positively identified the former NFL player as the shooter after seeing his face on television.
Hernandez was previously sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for Lloyd's death.
In a similar development, Penn Live reported that the man who shipped guns to the convicted murder has already been sentenced to serve two years jail time in a federal prison.
Oscar Hernandez (not related to the former NFL player) reportedly pleaded guilty to charges of gun conspiracy and lying to a grand jury.
The gun supplier reportedly shipped several guns from Florida to Massachusetts for Aaron Hernandez before Lloyd's death in 2013 though Penn live said that he was not the supplier of the murder weapon.
This means more trouble for the former NFL star who used to have a promising career and a bright life waiting for him.
