A little after "Avengers" and "Star Wars" director Joss Whedon broke the hearts of Sci-Fi fans by closing down his Twitter account, a younger generation became as devastated when the eclectic Jaden Smith went on a social media lockdown.
According to Mashable, the 16-year-old son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith shut down not only his Twitter account, but his official Facebook page as well. If that's not enough, he also decided to make his Instagram account private.
As it is with celebrities and their vast following, fans reacted to Jaden's missing Twitter account on... well, Twitter.
Mashable collected a few reactions from fans, and one of them said, "Jaden Smith quit Twitter so now none of us are going to know when the world is going to end or how we're going to die."
Another looked into the future by noting, "gonna be traumatic when my grandkids ask what it was like to be alive when jaden smith was tweeting & i respond with sobs [sic]."
While another fan lamented, "did jaden smith delete his twitter please say he didn't because that knocks my reasons to live list down to only 2 things [sic]."
Fans may be reacting wildly to Jaden's decision to delete his social media accounts, but Time Magazine noted that this may not be for the long run as the young Smith, in an interview with the New York Times, said that he is "going to imprint myself on everything in this world."
In memory of his deleted Twitter account, News Australia put together some of Jaden's most prolific tweets, check them out:
"Every seven years your body is completely replaced with entirely new cells so just because you look the same doesn't mean you are."
"If everybody in the world dropped out of school we would have a much more intelligent society."
"Most trees are blue."
"I hope it doesn't take for me to die to see what I do for you."
If you want to read more of his past Twitter posts, Complex did manage to record some of the most thought-provoking ones.
As reported by Inquisitr, Jaden made headlines last month when he was both commended and criticized for wearing a dress in public, but the site noted that this is also probably the reason he decided to make a break from social media.
Or, you know, his parents grounded him from Twitter.
What do you think about Jaden Smith's social media hiatus?
