Gran Turismo 6 is one of the last great PlayStation 3 exclusives that has yet to come out, and racing fans are eager to try out the newest installment of the fabled franchise. The game will be the first in the series to have microtransactions, and IGN is reporting that users will have to pay quite a lot to be able to buy some of the more expensive items in the game.
While players will not be able to buy cars in the game directly using real world currency, they will be able to buy in-game credits with real currency to buy these items. The U.S. dollar amounts for these credit packs are unknown, but the English Pound and Euro values have been uncovered. It is unknown if developer Polyphony Digital will maintain the same prices in America.
The game will offer credits in packs of 500,000, 1 million, 2.5 million and 7 million. The smallest and cheapest pack of 500,000 credits will cost users £3.99/€4.99. The million credits pack will be available for £7.99/€9.99. For £15.99/€19.99 players will be able to buy 2.5 million credits for the game. Finally, the 7 million credits package will be available for £39.99/€49.99.
While this may seem like a good deal, players will have to spend some serious cash if they want to buy their way to the most expensive cars found in the game. For example, the Jaguar XJ13 is the most expensive car found in the game at 20 million credits. This means you would need to spend £119.95 ($195 USD). Needless to say, it is unlikely that users will be dropping that much cash just to have one car in Gran Turismo 6.
However, if you absolutely need to add the Jaguar XJ13 to your collection in Gran Turismo 6, you can still earn it the old fashioned way. This mean acquiring credits by winning races and playing the game rather than just buying up credits through microtransactions. It may take longer, but it is better than spending so much on a virtual car.
