It's always a struggle to choose between saving some bucks or "spare the additional guac" for that extra serving of mashed avocado-and-whatnot dip delight. But we all have to agree with one thing, though, and that's how much we love Chipotle's guacamole.
Snapping a photo of your #chipsandguac before taking a bite. Now that's patience.

And now, we have one more reason to love these guys behind the famous taco and burrito Mexican grill. They are so generous they are letting us be privy to the details of how they make guacamole with their very own secret recipe.
"Well, it starts with sourcing the best whole ingredients possible," reveals Chipotle in their blog titled "A Batch Made in Heaven: Seven Steps to the Perfect Guacamole." Here are the things you need to get from the supermarket, that is, if you don't have them yet from your pantry.
- 2 ripe Hass avocados (In the restaurant, they use 48 per batch, multiple times per day)
- 2 teaspoons lime juice
- 2 tablespoons cilantro (chopped)
- 1/4 cup red onion (finely chopped)
- 1/2 jalapeño, including seeds (finely chopped)
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Now, what to do with the ingredients? Chipotle spilled the beans on how to prepare them exactly the way they do it at the restaurant.
- Choose the right avocado. It should feel squishy yet firm (like the palm of your hand), and be a nice dark green color on the inside.
- Cut the avocado in half and the remove the pit (carefully!).
- Scoop the avocados and place in a medium bowl.
- Toss and coat with lime juice.
- Add the salt and using a fork or potato masher, mash until a smooth consistency is achieved.
- Fold in the remaining ingredients and mix well.
- Taste the guacamole (over and over) and adjust seasoning if necessary
Chipotle Mexican Grill now has more than 1,600 stores and is currently enjoying the fruit of their success with $3.2 billion in sales. The company decided to go public back in 2006 when they have 480 stores according to the Motley Fool.
Their main goal is to veer away from the usual fast-food type of dining and make an upgrade in their service with "food quality that's more in line with full-service restaurants, coupled with the speed and convenience of fast food."
They source their high quality ingredients from carefully-selected suppliers in what they refer to as "Food with Integrity" and use cooking techniques on par with higher-end restaurants, but offer food at a more reasonable price.
