"Frozen 2" creator and animation director Chris Buck has hinted that the sequel will take a page off the book of another famous story.
According to a report from Venture Capital Post, Buck was apparently inspired by his visit in Australia and plans to give "Frozen 2" a touch of L. Frank Baum's "Ozma of Oz," which is set in the land down under where Dorothy and her Uncle Henry lived. Buck also said that an ending for "Frozen 2" is already on-hand, but he also stressed out that the production team still "has a lot of things to figure out."
Venture Capital Post also wrote that the two child-friendly movies have stunning similarities when it comes to their main characters. Janet Erlick, executive artistic director of the Fort Lauderdale Children's Theatre, said that the shared strength of Dorothy of Kansas and Anna of Arendelle is similar, adding that "the power was within her all along to do what needed to be done," the news outlet noted.
There are also speculations that the follow-up to Disney's hit animated flick will reveal where Elsa's powers originated from, Venture Capital Post added. The Ice Queen's magic was a mystery which was not explained clearly in "Frozen."
Despite the international success of the film, Buck didn't deny being apprehensive about the sequel. Day Herald reported that Buck is anxious that "he will not be able to live up to the expectations and rumor has it that he is even having second thoughts about being on board" for "Frozen 2." Indeed, Disney has big shoes to fill when the follow-up finally makes it to the big screen.
Should Prince Hans Be Given a Second Chance?
"Frozen 2" is still going through various developments, but speculations have already surfaced about the hit animated flick featuring Elsa and Anna. Without doubt, the follow-up's plot is something to be excited for, as well as new characters and brand new adventures for Arendelle's heroes. Some reports have suggested that some characters of the movie could come back with a totally different intent.
We previously reported about the theories suggesting that the first film's main villain, Prince Hans, could return to Arendelle as a redeemed person. With the possibility of a new female villain in the kingdom for "Frozen 2," Hans could be out of the picture as the bad guy and instead help Elsa and her friends to defeat the new threat to Arendelle's peace.
Peter Del Vecho is producing the animated film for Walt Disney Animation Studios. As what we reported last month, "Frozen 2" will be released in 2018, with Idina Menzel expected to reprise her role as Elsa. There are no confirmed reports about the involvement of Kristen Bell (the voice behind Anna) in the film yet.
