While his Penguin persona in the 1992 Tim Burton film "Batman Returns" has made do with the underground sewers for its dwelling, Danny Devito is living the high-life in his posh estate at one of the most coveted neighborhoods in the city.

But it won't be for long as the well-accomplished actor, producer, and director, together with his wife Rhea Perlman, had just closed on an off-market deal with their Beverly Hills property for which they had asked $28 Million, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.

The couple opted to sell the house because all their children are now grownups. The home has seven beds and sits on about two acres of land. The estate is one of the biggest in terms of lot area around the neighborhood, the Journal notes.

Over the years, they have done some revamping with the place which features a free-standing screening room, a dance studio, a basement, and two swimming pools.

According to the LA Times, the 14,579 square-foot French country-style home was designed by architect Wallace Neff. It also has an office, an art studio, a bar, a gym, a wine cellar, and a library.

Multiple fireplaces were installed all across the different rooms of the house. Outside, a separate guesthouse can also be found "on the park-like grounds," describes the news outlet.

As per public records, the couple acquired the home back in 1994, notes the LA Times. Rochelle Altas Maize and Gayle Weiss of Nourmand & Associates represented the owners, while Paul Lester and Aileen Comora of The Agency were in-charge of the property listing.

Several online sources have named Stuart and Stephanie Liner, Los Angeles real estate developers, as the new owners of the home.

Devito, born Daniel Michael DeVito Jr., has an impressive oeuvre as an actor with the long list of films and TV series he had been a part of. He was known for his roles on films such as "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (1975), "L.A. Confidential" (1997), and "Matilda" (1996).

Devito lent his voice to the titular character of the 2012 movie "The Lorax" and according to Entertainment Weekly, it was the role "he was born to play."

He was also a part of both the TV series "Taxi" (1978-1983) and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" (2006-2015).

Perlman, on the other hand, is part of the TV series "The Mindy Project" (2014-2015) and "Cheers" (1982-1993). She was known for her part on the films "Matilda" (1996), "The Sessions" (2012), and "Canadian Bacon" (1995).

The Hollywood pair has been married since the early 1980s. They have three children, Lucy, Daniel and Gracie.
