If current rumors are to be believed, the next iteration in the "Red Dead Redemption" franchise will be titled "Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West."
The information comes from a developer named AnonDN1978, BREATHEcast cited. According to the outlet, the tipster has claimed on Reddit about working on the sequel and hating on his boss, eventually prompting the spill of such an interesting detail.
Though Rockstar has previously expressed delight over fans' enthusiasm surrounding the franchise, it has never confirmed an RDR sequel. However, we know for a fact that Take-Two pays attention to its proven and "permanent" franchises, which apparently includes "Red Dead Redemption."
According to the Venture Capital Post, Rockstar's slate is now open for new game titles, with "GTA 6" and "Red Dead Redemption 2" speculated as its top priorities. This can be easily predicted, considering the arrival of the long-awaited Heists on "GTA" Online and "GTA V" for the PC.
While anticipation for a sequel remains high, Wedbush Securities' Michael Pachter expressed that Rockstar may announce a new IP instead, GamingBolt previously reported.
The outlet took note of his opinion, which said, "I don't think the sequel to 'Red Dead Redemption' is the next Rockstar game. Remember when I said there was some new IP that they've been working on since at least '09?"
"I think that comes before 'Red Dead Revolution.' I think a sequel to 'Midnight Club' comes before 'Red Dead Revolution,' and it wouldn't shock me if a sequel to 'Manhunt' came before 'Bully' or 'Red Dead,'" he added.
Interestingly, Pachter is convinced that Rockstar is a gaming giant not really up for the money. He went on, "I think Rockstar has a really amazing number of great games and great IPs, and I don't think that Rockstar are motivated by money. I think Rockstar are motivated by high quality game experiences."
Meanwhile, in a recent article, Moviepilot wrote its prediction that Rockstar may indeed reveal "Red Dead Redemption 2," or at least announce a release date within this year.
According to the outlet, Rockstar has the power to bring RDR 2's location "anywhere they want." We never know, but that could mean the horizons of the Himalayas, the outskirts of the Amazon or the same old West for a classic appeal. The possibilities are endless, at least for now.
Nevertheless, rumors have it that the next "Red Dead" game will arrive for the PS4, Xbox One and PC in November.
