Retro gaming fans who remember the Double Dragon series as one of the best beat'em up games of the arcade era are in for a treat: the three games in the series have been collected as a single app for Android and iOS devices.

Double Dragon Trilogy can now be found in both the Apple App Store as well as the Google Play Store for Android phones and tablets. The official game description for the app reveals what players can expect from the trilogy of old-school brawler games:

The app is available for $2.99, and many new features have been added to the mobile version of the games. Achievements and leaderboards will be available for the game, and players will be able to choose if they want to play the classic arcade mode for the games or play story mode to try and get new stages and achievements. Co-op mode will be available via bluetooth for those looking for a pal to take on bad guys with.

With the release of this trilogy, players will be able to choose between several different difficulty levels for the Double Dragon Trilogy. The mobile difficulty is tailored specifically for the mobile version of the games. "Original" mode is similar to the original versions of the game, and "expert" will allow users to experience a challenging version of the games. Players will also be able to create their own control scheme for the game to suit their style of play. Finally, the game includes the original 8-bit soundtrack or a remastered version made just for the app.

This app is a very impressive package that adds a new twist to several classic games and should be a must buy for iOS and Android users.
