The two-part winter finale of ABC's popular political thriller series "Scandal" will kick off on Thursday, Dec. 5, and it promises to be intense.

In the episode, which is called "YOLO," Olivia reunites with her long lost mother under very perilous circumstances. An exclusive sneak on Entertainment Weekly shows Olivia is visibly shaken after finding her mother who she thought was dead for the last 22 years. Team OPA will also face Mama Pope and demand her to explain where she has been over the last two decades. In response, she breaks her silence explaining that Olivia's father imprisoned her, and that she was able to make a recent escape.

A promo of the midseason finale shows that Olivia's situation with her mother gets even worse by the fact that special cops are all over trying to get her mother back. Also in the preview, Olivia has her mother at her place and she calls Huck to find out what to do, but he tells her to bold because someone is coming for her mother.

In addition to Olivia and her mother, there is another situation that is bound to cause lots of drama—Cyrus and Quinn. In the meantime, there's a Jake vs. Fitz scene and Huck has a torture device in his hand.

Here's what the official ABC synopsis has to say about the episode: "As the team gets closer to the truth, loyalties are tested and relationships are pushed to the limit. Meanwhile, Cyrus has to deal with his own crisis and he realizes that he may have gone too far."

For fans wondering if and how "Scandal" producers will incorporate Kerry Washington's pregnancy into the show, TVLine revealed that Shonda Rhimes does not plan to further complicate Olivia's love life with a toddler.

TVLine's Ausiello also hinted that the FLOTUS might strike up an interest in Andrew, a new handsome and charismatic guy on the show.
