Rumors regarding the specifications and features of the device accompany the impending release of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4. Price cuts and sales are also on-going for the Surface Pro 3 now that its successor is about to be launched.
Here are the latest rumors about the Surface Pro 4. We compare it with the specs and features of its predecessor.
Design
Speculations claim that there will be 3 models: a 14 inches, a 12 inches, and an 8-inch model to compete against the iPad Pro Mini, Cross Map reported.
The Surface Pro 3, on the other hand, comes in magnesium silver casing with the physical volume, power, and home buttons, Microsoft's official site wrote. It has a 12-inch screen size with a ClearType Full HD Display and 2160 x 1440 resolution.
Features & Specs
The Surface Pro 4 is also rumored to be equipped by a 2k display, LTE capabilities, Intel's Core M Processor, an 8-MP and 3.5-MP camera, and streaming capabilities for Xbox, Cross Map noted.
All versions will have an LCD resolution of 2160 x 1440, and can have memory storage up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage space, Venture Capital Post wrote.
International Business Times reported that Microsoft chose to ditch the Intel Haswell Dual-Core i5 and i7 processors for the Surface Pro 4 and instead used the latest Intel Core M Broadwell chip. The same processor is also being utilized by the new MacBook laptops of Apple.
The news outlet also noted that the new chip is 30 percent more energy efficient, though the Haswell processors of the Surface Pro 3 are more powerful.
The Surface Pro 3, in contrast, has memory storage options of 64GB or 128GB version with 4GB RAM and 256GB or 512GB version with 8GB RAM, Microsoft noted.
The Surface Pro 3's processors are as follows: 4th generation Intel Core i3 for the 64GB version, 4th generation Intel Core i5 for the 128GB and 256GB versions, and 4th generation Intel Core i7 for the 256GB and 512GB, the tech giant's site listed.
Price
According to Realty Today, the Surface Pro 4 could be launched at Microsoft's Build Conference scheduled on April 29 up to May 1 at San Francisco, California, with the release date to happen sometime in June to October 2015. Maine News Online, however, wrote that the device could come out by July to coincide with the unveiling of the Windows 10, which is hinted at by AMD CEO Lisa Su.
The Surface Pro 3's starting price is at $799, though price cuts for the device are now reaching about $150, Venture Capital Post reported.
