Asa Butterfield is front and center as Spider-Man/Peter Parker in Marvel's superhero film.

The "Ender's Game" star goes against other Spider-Man contenders, which includes up-and-coming young actors such as Nat Wolff of "The Fault In Our Stars," Liam James of USA's "Pysch," Timothee Chalamet of "Interstellar," and Tom Holland of "The Impossible," The Wrap reported. However, it looks like Butterfield, 18, is the frontrunner in the group.

"Asa Butterfield Leads the Bunch. We have reached out to Asa's reps who have given us a 'no comment.' We have also reached out other industry sources who have confirmed that he is indeed the front runner including one who believed that he already had bagged the role, by stating: 'Marvel had liked him since day one,' Latino-Review wrote.

Aside from "Ender's Game," Butterfield also starred in Martin Scorsese's "Hugo" and in "Ten Thousand Saints," ScreenCrush noted. He also stars in the Tim Burton 2016 film "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children."

A separate report from Latino-Review claimed that the title for the reboot is "Spider-Man: The New Avenger," which puts the film in Marvel Cinematic Universe's current movie continuity as a part of the Avengers team, with the title also reflecting the Chris Evans-starrer "Captain America: Civil War." Speculations believed that Spider-Man, which was portrayed by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in previous films, could have an appearance in the installment.

Marvel Studios executive Kevin Feige previously revealed that the upcoming Spider-Man reboot would abstain from an origin story and will instead focus on the superhero's high school years, IGN wrote.

Collaborating with Marvel in the film is Sony Pictures, with the latter still in charge of the financing, distribution, and final creative control, according to the press release reported by IGN. Feige's involvement in the "Spider-Man" series, however, indicates that Marvel is majorly engaged in the project.

Drew Goddard, who was previously reported as the director of the "Sinister Six" film, is rumored to write and direct the "Spider-Man" reboot, IGN added. The movie is slated for release in theaters on July 27, 2017.

Peter Parker Is Here to Stay

Before the confirmation about the "Spider-Man" reboot's continued focus on Peter Parker, several rumors have said in the past that the Hispanic version of the superhero, Miles Morales, could make his debut in the big screen.

Marvel Comics talent scout C.B. Cebulski already clarified that Peter is still the main Spider-Man. Miles, on the other hand, is joining the "All-New, All-Different Avengers" team after "Secret Wars," "an event that sees the Ultimate Marvel U and the main Marvel U smashing together," a separate report from IGN wrote.
