Two vampires said "I do" over the weekend, and may their immortality really mean forever. According to Entertainment Tonight, "The Vampire Diaries" actor Ian Somerhalder officially tied the knot with his "Twilight" actress fiancee Nikki Reed in Santa Monica, California, on Sunday night.

The couple, who only dated six months before they got engaged in January, fast-tracked to the altar, and they looked happily in love. Is it the wedding of their dreams? Here are some things you may want to know about their blissful day:

1) Instead of gifts, Ian and Nikki decided that they wanted to ask guests to make donations to their animal rescue charity instead. This is something that they are both passionate about as People Magazine noted that Reed has been awarded for her work with animals in February. She shared about their relationship, "What's actually, I think, nurtured this long friendship that we've had is that we are passionate about similar things." That, and their desire to make the world a better place.

2) Ian may be an entire decade older than 26-year-old Nikki, but while this is the first time he tied the knot, she was previously married to American Idol alum Paul McDonald, whom she divorced last May.

3) Ian and his ex-girlfriend, TVD co-star Nina Dobrev, remain friendly, but while Delena fans wanted them to end up together in real life, others believed he was meant for Nikki. In a report by Mirror UK, TVD Actress Kat Graham said about the couple, "I haven't met two people that were more of soul mates than those guys. They are so absolutely amazing. Everyone loves them, and I really can't imagine him with anyone else."

4) Nikki wore an elegant Claire Pettibone gown with lace sleeves. The designer herself said in a statement sent to People Magazine, "Nikki was a delight to design for, and I wish the beautiful couple every happiness." The groom, on the other hand, looked every bit as handsome as his TVD character in an all-white suit.

5) Ian confirmed his marriage to Nikki via Twitter, and in the leaked photos from their ceremony, it seems that their looks were not all that they had to show. Ian revealed last week that he and his bride had been working out to prepare for their wedding, posting photos of themselves lifting weights on Instagram, the Mirror UK reported. Who knew they'd be married merely a week later?
