It's not Android 4.4 KitKat, but AT&T released a small update for LG G2 owners Dec. 3 on its network that brings a couple of fixes to the table that are sure to be appreciated.
The new firmware will update the LG G2 model D800's baseband version to M8974A-AAAANAZM-1.0.190034 and weighs in at 57MB. AT&T states that the upgrade began hitting customers Dec. 3, although if you haven't received it yet, don't worry - Android updates are usually pushed out in batches and most AT&T LG G2 owners should get their notification for download soon. As usual, be sure to have the device tethered to a Wi-Fi connection.
AT&T lists the following changes one can expect after downloading the update:
" - ISIS Ready
- EAS Fix (Enable Data Encryption Policy in the device via over the air)
- Enhanced Google Map
- Fix-to correct AT&T Messages name display issue within AT&T folder on the Home screen (wrapping of "s" to the second line)
- Ready2Go enhancements"
It's not much, but at least LG G2 owners won't feel left out this holiday season as a number of other handsets see shiny new Android 4.4 KitKat updates.
Speaking of Android 4.4 KitKat, LG G2 owners will most likely have to wait a long time until the latest version of Android arrives on their handset. Some reports indicate that Android 4.4 KitKat might not release for the LG G2 until March 2014 while others are more vague, pointing to a Q1 2014 release. Either way, there's very little chance of KitKat in 2013 for the LG G2, despite initial rumors suggesting a December 2013 rollout.
