The next iteration in the Samsung Galaxy Note series, the alleged Galaxy Note 5, is expected to launch with an Edge model, or without a standard version at all.
Why the Galaxy Note 5 could arrive as an Edge model by itself has been discussed by AndroidPIT. According to the outlet, the Korean tech giant will establish an air of commitment, once it follows dual-curved screens for its upcoming flagship devices.
Needless to say, such move could set an example for the rest of the Android community, considering that Samsung is the world's largest Android manufacturer at the moment.
AndroidPIT wrote, "If Samsung, the world's largest Android manufacturer by far, ditched the regular Note 5, and then the Galaxy S7 after that, by only producing Edge versions, the Android landscape would be irrevocably changed."
As reported by Phone Arena, Samsung has confirmed having Ultra HD 2160 x 3840 pixels Super AMOLED displays in the works for 2015. These panels are intended for mobile, and the outlet has heard that they'll be available for the Galaxy Note 5.
Expected production of these displays is marked in August, while the device is touted to launch at the Berlin-based IFA event in September.
Phone Arena's article cited two versions of the new phablet, however: the standard Note 5 at 5.89 inches diagonal, and the Edge version at 5.78 inches at the similar measurement.
ValueWalk is convinced that the Galaxy Note 5 will arrive sporting the Galaxy S6's familiar glass and metal architecture. Along with this, the outlet noted other expected features, such as Samsung Pay, wireless charging, fingerprint sensor, TouchWiz upgrades, a removable back cover and a micro SD slot.
Samsung has ditched removable battery, micro SD slot and waterproofing ability in the Galaxy S6, a possible disappointment to some prospects. The Galaxy Note 5 may be offered in 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB storage options, ValueWalk predicted.
In a more recent article, International Business Times wrote that Samsung has hinted on the Galaxy Note 5's flexible AMOLED display, as well as its dual camera set-up.
Citing information from DigiTimes, IBT reported that the bendable AMOLED substrate material is said to be thinner than human hair. That being said, we seem to get a picture of a device that's bound to be really slim.
Much like the rumored DSLR-quality camera in the iPhone 7, the Galaxy Note 5 is touted to have a dual-camera technology, promising upgrades in photography.
The Galaxy Note 5 is speculated to house a Snapdragon 810 / Exynos 7420 processor, 21 MP main camera, 6 MP front snapper, 4 GB of RAM, 16 GB to 128 GB storage options, micro SD support, 4,000 mAh battery and a retina scanner.
In terms of price, the Galaxy Note 5 is predicted to sell around $900, the Ecumenical News cited.
