Blake Shelton is the reigning coach on "The Voice," but it looks like his fellow mentor Christina Aguilera is stepping up ahead on the game.
The pop singer placed at No. 3 on the iTunes Top 100 Country Songs chart for "Shotgun," a track that was featured on ABC's "Nashville" last week, PEOPLE reported. The song went above Shelton's "Sangria," which has the No. 4 position in the music chart.
"I'm finally beating Blake at something. It's amazing and awesome, but you know, I'm milking every second of it," Aguilera, 34, said in a recent interview at "The Voice" Spring Break Concert, PEOPLE quoted.
The songstress also performed the song at the American Country Music Awards held on April 19, the news outlet added.
"I really love the song. It speaks to long-lasting love, the roads it takes, the turns it makes and how it lasts forever," said Aguilera of "Shotgun," PEOPLE reported. "When I perform it, I really think of that older couple who have been through it all and who have stood the test of time with the changes that their relationship goes through."
The "Genie in a Bottle" singer signed on "Nashville" for a multi-episode appearance. She portrays the character of Jade St. John, "a chart-topping pop princess who yearns to unleash her inner twang on a country record - and might finally get the opportunity during a two-night stand in Music City," TV Line wrote.
Aguilera's character will also be involved with Oliver Hudson's Jeff Fordham, a former music exec in the TV drama and Jade's ex fiancée, a separate report from PEOPLE noted. Jeff is obliged to deal with his past and work with Jade, a woman who played a key role in his professional and personal lives.
"Nashville" also saw Aguilera sporting brunette and pink wigs to get into character. According to the singer, working on the show was a pleasant experience.
"There are really no nicer people than in country," she shared, as reported by PEOPLE. "The show couldn't have been more welcoming and great to work with. On my last day of shooting, they even gave me a cake. It was such a great experience for my family."
The pop star will also executive produce an ABC Family dramedy titled "Hearts and Clubs," an hourlong show which centers on Las Vegas entertainers "as they fall in and out of love in the ultimate city of Sin," Deadline reported.
Aside from her commitments in television, Aguilera is also busy working on her eighth studio album, the follow-up of her "Lotus" record which was released in 2012. Aguilera is working with Pharrell Williams and production duo Da Internz (Kosine and Tuo) on the record, MTV wrote.
