After getting convicted for the death of Odin Lloyd, Aaron Hernandez will now be facing a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Lloyd's mother, Ursula Ward.

TMZ said Ward has refiled the case documents in the Massachusetts state court which she originally filed two years ago. The suit says that Hernandez "should be held financially liable for the wrongful death of her son."

It added that Ward tagged the New England Patriots as "reach and apply defendants" which meant that if she wins her case, she wants to get her judgment from the team.

"This is important because Ward claims that Hernandez has a right to collect $3.25 million of a signing bonus that she claims was due back in March 2014," added TMZ, noting that Ward has not specified the amount she is demanding from the convicted murderer.

According to TMZ, the case is pretty much solid since Hernandez has already been declared guilty by the jury which heard Lloyd's murder trial.

Lawyer Doug Sheff said in a Daily Mail report that Ward simply wants to ask what happened to her son and why he had to be killed in such a brutal manner.

Facing members of the press on Wednesday, Ward said she wished she was the one who died instead of her son. "The day I learned my son was shot and killed, I thought my life ended with his. I always wished I was there to take those bullets for Odin. Odin was loved by many. Odin will be missed tremendously," Ward added.

NBC Sports said that Hernandez will testify on the suit filed by Lloyd's mother as his Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination will no longer be honored at the end of the criminal process.

"However, the criminal process won't completely end until Hernandez's appeal has resolved, since he potentially could get a new trial. It's possible, if not likely, that the civil lawsuit will have to wait, if the goal will be to force Hernandez to tell his story," explained NBC Sports.

Sheff added in the Daily Mail article that they might also call Patriots officials like owner Bob Kraft if they think that their testimonies will help out in the case.

"We will also call different witnesses in the civil case, including Mr Aaron Hernandez. When we do he will no longer be able to hide behind any sort of Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination because he is already convicted of the crime. No one wants to unnecessarily disturb any professional or anybody, but if it is important and it is part of zealously representing our client, then we will do what we have to," Sheff noted.

This lawsuit is another blow to Hernandez, who is also facing double murder charges in Boston in 2012.
