Looks like Moto X owners are once again getting KitKat ahead of most people. Starting Wednesday, Dec. 4, carrier U.S. Cellular began pushing out Android 4.4 for the flagship handset.
The smallest of the big U.S. carriers, U.S. Cellular joins Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T as networks that have rolled out Android 4.4 KitKat for the Moto X. As is the norm with all Android firmware upgrades, not everyone will be able to download it immediately due to the phased nature of the release. It shouldn't be too long, however, before all Moto X owners on U.S. Cellular receive that anticipated notification that a new update is ready to be downloaded.
The release of Android 4.4 KitKat for the U.S. Cellular Moto X means that Sprint is now the only major U.S. carrier that hasn't released the update yet, although it shouldn't be too long until Sprint joins the party.
Android 4.4 KitKat is the latest version of Google's Android operating system, and comes with a host of new features that make it one of the most exciting upgrades yet. Alongside the usual security and performance tweaks, Google has gone the extra mile to integrate Google Now into more phone functions than ever before in an attempt to display relevant information before it's even asked. A full list of what's new in Android 4.4 KitKat can be found over at the official website.
