Fred Armisen has joined the cast of "Zoolander 2."

The "Saturday Night Live" alum announced the news on Tuesday via Instagram. The video showed Armisen packing a suitcase for a trip with the caption: "Upcoming trip to Rome. #zoolander2."

Ben Stiller, who portrays the starring role of model Derek Zoolander, reposted the 48-year-old actor's Instagram clip and wrote: "Excited @sordociego (Fred Armisen!!) is joining the #zoolander2 cast!"

"Zoolander 2" will premiere in theaters on February 2016, Time reported. Aside from Armisen, it was recently revealed by Stiller that actress Penelope Cruz will also appear in the sequel, as well as child actor Cyrus Arnold as Derek's son, Derek Jr., CNN wrote. Supermodel Karlie Kloss will also have a role in the film, Glamour Magazine wrote. The 22-year-old recently left Victoria's Secret as the esteemed brand's Angel.

Other supermodels on the sequel's shortlist include Naomi Campbell, Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn, and Alessandra Ambrosio, E! News noted. Gigi Hadid was also offered a role but the model declined.

Stiller, 49, has been actively sharing news updates from the set of "Zoolander 2." The actor also confirmed that Billy Zane, who had an uncredited role in the original 2001 comedy, has been added to the cast lineup. According to Movie Web, Zane was a good friend of Stiller's Derek in the film.

Owen Wilson (Hansel McDonald) and Christine Taylor (Matilda) are also in the cast, with Will Ferrell expected to reprise his role as Mugatu, Movie Web added.

Last March, Stiller and Wilson made a surprise appearance at the Valentino show at Paris Fashion Week as their respective characters in the comedy flick, a separate report from CNN noted. The publicity stunt saw Derek and his nemesis and sometimes BFF, Hansel, walking down the runway in Valentino attire.

"Zoolander 2" is written by Justin Theroux and directed by Stiller, with its events set 15 years after the first film, Glamour Magazine noted. Mayor of Rome Ignazio Marino has said that the follow-up will shoot for 12 weeks in and around the famous Cinecittà Studios.

"'Zoolander 2′ is going to drop like a giant bomb -- only a good bomb where that explodes with all this money that you can keep," Stiller said of the sequel, as quoted by Boston Herald. The first film grossed $46 million domestically and $15 million in international theaters when it premiered in 2001.

Fans would have to wait a long time for a sneak peek. In the meantime, check out the original movie's trailer below.
