Everybody on Real Madrid is counting on their main man Cristiano Ronaldo to lead the injury-stricken team against Atletico Madrid in a game on Wednesday.
Ronaldo's team, according to ESPN, has lost some of its top stars due to injuries, including Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Marcelo.
The same report noted that his experience over the years has made Ronaldo prepared for this kind of situation.
The Associated Press (AP) said Madrid will host Atletico in their upcoming match for the second leg of the quarterfinals. Last week, it was a 0-0 draw for both teams, giving them the chance to advance with a win or another draw with goals.
For Atletico midfielder Jorge "Koke" Resurreccion, his team is still thinking of what Madrid can do during the game especially with the presence of Ronaldo.
"Madrid has a great team whoever plays, that's why it's Real Madrid. In the end, we are still 11 against 11 and we don't care who plays. Our job is to win the tie," Resurreccion added.
AP added that Ronaldo is indeed a very dedicated player of the team and one who really gives a good performance during the games. He was able to reach the 50-goal mark for his fifth consecutive season in Madrid's 3-1 win over Malaga.
ButSport 360 expressed concern over what Ronaldo can contribute for his team since according to the outlet, he has not been in his best form recently.
"Don't be fooled by his recent five-goal haul against an awful Granada: Ronaldo has been nowhere near his best for a number of weeks now. The Portuguese has flitted in and out of games, scoring just about often enough to avert talk of a 'crisis' but also misfiring with sufficient frequency to provoke his very visible frustration - both on the pitch where he has lapsed into several angry outbursts, and off the field where he is maintaining a sulky personal policy of not speaking to the media," added Sport 360.
On the other hand, Yahoo Sports noted that the team is now finding solutions to the absence of their players due to injuries. A major player eyed to fill for Karim Benzema is Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez who can be a great contributor to the team especially during crucial times.
"Two-footed and quick, Hernandez possesses poacher instincts that could prove decisive in a match that's likely to be decided by slim margins," added Yahoo Sports.
Of course, Ronaldo cannot win on his own so he is going to need all the help he can get from his teammates.
