Apple has only begun seeding the first beta for the iOS 8.4, but a jailbreak for the operating system has already been demonstrated by famed iOS hacker Stefan Esser.
Esser, whose Twitter username is @i0n1c, posted the proof of concept iOS 8.4 jailbreak video on YouTube which showcases a tethered version, Uber Gizmo wrote. An untethered jailbreak version is not completed yet because "something is broken," the hacker said, adding that the tethered jailbreak was done by utilizing a vulnerability inside the code.
According to Uber Gizmo, there's a huge chance that Apple "might patch the vulnerability before iOS 8.4 [went] to the public which will render this jailbreak useless." The last time Esser publicly released a jailbreak was for the iOS 4.3.1 which came out a few years ago, but the hacker demonstrated other jailbreaks for the latest versions of the operation system.
Watch Esser's proof-of-concept video below.
Undoubtedly, a great deal of pressure could be heading for Esser to release this jailbreak.
In the video clip, he said, "Of course this video will trigger haters all over the jailbreaking scene that for some reason believe they can decide what a person is allowed to do or not do with their work," WCCF Tech quoted. "Haters gonna hate. So just ignore the haters and never let them tell you what you have to do. In that regard never let anyone bully you and stop you from showing your own hard work. Peace!"
The video also shows Esser launching the Cydia icon which was installed on an iPhone 6 running iOS 8.4 beta 1.
Esser continued, "The vulnerability itself is however not new to iOS. Instead it is inside the code virtually forever," iJailbreak quoted from the video clip. "But the code of this jailbreak has nothing at all to do with the previous CyberElevat0r for iOS 7.1.1 - it does not share a single line of code."
A report from Scribbal, however, noted that Esser's jailbreak will not be likely enjoyed by iPhone users. The hacker reportedly has a reputation among the jailbreak community as being a "troll," with moderators at jailbreak's sub-Reddit removing all traces of conversation/debates relating to i0n1c.
According to Scribbal, this isn't Esser's first time when it comes to flaunting a jailbreak without the intention of releasing it. He also did it last year with his "so-called cyberelevat0r jailbreak," for iOS 8.4 beta 1, which is the firmware that will ultimately be the succeeding version of the current iOS 8.3 public build, the news outlet noted.
