Fans have been getting one good news after another at the Star Wars Celebration, this time with a description of Gareth Edward's "Rogue One."

According to The Verge, director Edwards revealed that the film will take place between "Revenge of the Sith" and "A New Hope" and will be about a group of rebels who band together to steal plans for the Death Star, the same plans that were later on used by Luke Skywalker to destroy the battle station in Episode IV. Edwards said, "it comes down to a group of individuals who don't have magical powers that have to somehow bring hope to the galaxy."

The official Star Wars website posted a tweet about the plot summary, which read, "A band of resistance fighters unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans in Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One." In case you're wondering, MSN-BC noted that the films are being called "anthologies" rather than spinoffs as they vary in scale and genre with plenty of new characters and even places.

The outlet also said that the idea for "Rogue One" came from visual effects artist John Knoll. The director got the pitch while he was in the middle of filming "Godzilla" so he felt so burned out at the time and he was hoping he wouldn't like the project despite his love for the franchise. However, it turned out that he loved it and the movie is set to start filming over the summer, to be released on December 16, 2016.

"The Theory of Everything" actress, Felicity Jones, who has been confirmed as a cast member will play a Rebel Soldier and according to Edwards,"Rogue One" is trying to aim for realism, telling the audience at the Star Wars celebration, "It's the reality of war. Good guys are bad. Bad guys are good. It's complicated, layered; a very rich scenario in which to set a movie."

As Forbes noted, this announcement is the latest in the semi-regular spin-off films for the franchise, and will be the first that does not center around the Jedi.

"Rogue One" is penned by John Knoll, Chris Weitz, and Gary Whitta.

Forbes said that "Star Wars" has the advantage of being an expansive universe, so characters and planets can be introduced all the time, however, do you think veering away from the Jedis is a good thing for the series?
