Washington DC-based ESPN sports reporter Britt McHenry has been suspended, after a video, which showed how she berated an employee of a towing company, went viral online.
Daily Mail said the New Jersey native's car was towed from a parking lot of a Chinese restaurant in Arlington, Virginia, on April 6, which prompted her unruly behavior at the towing company's office captured by a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera.
"I'm in the news, sweetheart, I will f-----g sue this place," McHenry said as she conversed with the parking attendant of the towing company.
As seen in the video, the employee tried to warn McHenry that she was being recorded but the reporter continued to unleash derogatory comments.
McHenry said, "That's why I have a degree and you don't - I wouldn't work in a scumbag place like this. Makes my skin crawl even being here."
Daily Mail added that the attendant kept her cool and replied, "Well lets get you out of here quickly."
"Yep, that's all you care about - taking people's money...with no education, no skill set. Just wanted to clarify that," McHenry uttered.
Before she walked away from the counter, the irate ESPN reporter continued her verbal attack.
"Maybe if I was missing some teeth they would hire me, huh? Cos' I'm on television and you're in a f-----g trailer, honey. Lose some weight, baby girl," she added.
According to Bleacher Report, ESPN PR representative Josh Krulewitz confirmed McHenry's suspension.
Following the spread of her video online, McHenry apologized for her actions on her Twitter page.
"In an intense and stressful moment, I allowed my emotions to get the best of me and said some insulting and regrettable things. As frustrated as I was, I should always choose to be respectful and take the high road. I am so sorry for my actions and will learn from this mistake," her post read.
A similar Deadspin article said that this is not the first time that McHenry displayed rude behavior. One of the site's readers, who claimed to be a former classmate of the ESPN reporter, sent an E-mail to the news site, alledging that McHenry also had an argument with another classmate on Facebook.
"Not long ago she got into a Facebook spat with a classmate whose wife is expecting a baby after she complained about having to see so many baby pictures in her newsfeed. At best, her work back then was mediocre and other people in the program with about the same skill set never landed jobs after graduating - on top of the many people with better skills who never found work either," part of the E-mail read.
