Another rumor about the purported Sony Xperia Z4 has surfaced. A report from GSM Arena has claimed that the rumored device will abandon the traditional glass case and will instead have a metal unibody along with a fingerprint sensor.
The power button, which Sony jumpstarted in the original Xperia Z, is also getting a redesign, speculations claim. GSM Arena added that it will also feature a fingerprint scanner.
The news outlet, however, noted that these rumors about the Xperia Z4 were really for the refreshed Z3 model called Xperia Z3 Neo. There were no significant changes in the leaked live images, particularly the alleged redesigned power button, so those leaked photos could be for the Z3 Neo.
The alleged smartphone is also said to be equipped with a 5.2-inch display screen, Full HD or QHD resolution, a Snapdragon processor, Adreno 430 GPU, 4GB RAM, 32GB/G4GB built-in storage, microSD card slot for expansion, a 5 megapixel front-facing shooter, and a 20.7 megapixel main camera, Android Community listed.
Ecumenical News noted that the Xperia Z4 is provided with water and dust-proofing, a 3,420 mAh battery, and connectivity options including Bluetooth, NFC, GPS and Wi-Fi. It is also expected to run using Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.
Tech Times, on the other hand, reported that the smartphone will be equipped with a set of stereo speakers at the top and bottom of the display, which music lovers will surely approve of.
Sony Georgia also posted an alleged leaked image of the Xperia Z4 on Facebook. As pointed out by TechRadar, the render looked so similar to its predecessor that the news outlet felt it was "uninspired."
"This image could be of almost any previous Xperia device and you wouldn't really notice," TechRadar wrote.
The leaked photo should not be believed entirely, given that Sony hasn't made confirmations about the rumored device yet. As written by TechRadar, Sony responded, "We do not comment on rumor or speculation."
Also joining the bandwagon of releasing leaked images of the Xperia Z4 was Digital Spy. If the leaked photos published by the site are to be believed, the handset measures at around 6.3mm thin, making it slimmer than the iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S6. Digital Spy's photos of the alleged Xperia Z4 came from French tech website Nowhereelse.
As for the Xperia Z4's rumored launch date, several reports have claimed that the smartphone is set to be unveiled on April 20, GSM Arena wrote.
Android Pit, however, reported that the Xperia Z4 will be launched in May, contradicting GSM Arena's claim. The Xperia Z4 Compact, meanwhile, will be unveiled in November, the news outlet claimed. PC Advisor speculated that the handset could be priced around £599 ($884, AU$ 1163).
These are all rumors for now and an official word from Sony is yet to be announced.
