Android Lollipop updates have been made available to a number of devices recently, in the form of over-the-air (OTA) and custom ROM releases.

To start with, Sprint has released Android 5.0 Lollipop to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note Edge, International Business Times reported. As these are OTA updates, users can expect standard features, on top of other interesting additions. Check out Sprint's official update statements here and here.

Meanwhile, users of the metal-framed Galaxy Note 4 may choose to update to Android 5.0.1, IBT said, depending on the carrier and region.

According to Customs Today, the earlier Galaxy Note 2 (3G) GT-N7100 model has received an Android 5.1 custom firmware, based on AOSP (Android Open Source Project) v5.1 Lollipop. This is the CM12.1 custom ROM.

In addition, the Galaxy S3 is reportedly available for upgrade through CM12.1 ROM, the Master Herald cited. Predecessor Galaxy S2 with model number i9100 can get Android 5.1, based on the OmniROM firmware, the source noted in another article.

Master Herald reminded users to have the specific S2 unlocked and rooted. Prior to installation, backing up of files and 60% battery are recommended.

Verizon has started rolling out Android 5.0 to LG G3 users, Load The Game cited. The handset's update has been waited for quite some time, and much to the delight of prospects, the software is now imminent. The outlet also took note of the hype surrounding the new LG 4.0 UX.

Mr. Juno Cho, head of LG Electronics' mobile division, previously confirmed the new UX's arrival before the highly-anticipated LG G4 flagship. Android Headlines took note of his remarks, which said, "We will announce LG UX 4.0 before announcing the LG G4. I think it is simply the best and the issue is how to best fit the new UX system into the G4 smartphone."

Meanwhile, users of the LG G2 can also update to Android 5.0 through the CyanogenMod 12 ROM, AUTOOMOBILE wrote. The firmware is said to be in its alpha stages, but nevertheless supports notifications, GPS, NFC, sensors and airplane mode.

The outlet advised users to have their LG G2 phones rooted using SuperSu, while the update can be installed on the D800, D801, D802, LS980 and VS980. Custom recovery options include TWRP, PHILZ or CWM.

Through the Terminus ROM, Nexus 4 devices are able to get the Android 5.1 LMY47I update, IBT said in another report. The build is also based on AOSP. A battery charge of 80% is recommended for the process.
