Mick Schumacher, son of Formula One racer and champion Michael Schumacher, seems to be following his dad's footsteps in professional racing as he completed a test run in Germany's Formula 4 on Wednesday.
Christian Times said that with the younger Schumacher's most recent feat, it is very much apparent that he looks up to his father and his accoplishments as a seven-time F1 champion.
The championship round is set at the Oschersleben circuit on April 25 and April 26.
Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm, who also functions as the manager of Mick, said that they do not want to put pressure on the 16-year-old.
"My message is to be realistic with expectations," Kehm said, as noted on Christian Times.
She added that Mick still has a lot to learn since this is his first year to join a formula series.
"He has to learn a lot of new things and make a lot of new experiences because the difference between karting and formula cars is quite big," the manager added, asking the public to be easy on him and give him more time because he is just a newbie.
"Give him time, don't over-react in terms of expectations and just have him go step by step. Of course he will try and do his very best but he also has to learn a lot. This is really just the start of it," Kehm continued.
In a similar Fox Sports report, Kehm described Mick as just "a young boy" trying to make a name for himself.
"From my point of view, and this is something I want to primarily ensure, we shouldn't raise expectations too high. He will gain a lot of new experience this year and, at the same time, do everything to give his best," Kehm added.
She also asked for "restraint" for the young racer to perform in the best possible way he can.
Mick is said to be part of the Dutch Van Amersfoort Racing team which will compete in the German Formula Four Series. Last year, he was able to land the runner-up spot for the the KF Junior Karting World and European Championship. For his upcoming competition, Christian Times said he will be teaming up with Harrison Newey, the son of Formula One car designer Adrian Newey.
Fox Sports said that after is success in karting, the younger Schumacher is now taking on a bigger challenge with the Formula 4 series.
The racer's son is clearly trying to prove to the whole world and to his father that he can also be a great Formula 1 driver someday. Though his dad may not see his current achievements since he is still recovering from serious head injuries, Mick has surely made an exciting and brand new start for their family.
News about Schumacher has been scarce since his family started a news blackout on his condition but Christian Times said that the F1 champion is still in his house in Switzerland, continuing his recovery and rehabilitation.
