Marvel assembled the "Avengers" in 2012, and the second film with the entire gang is set to be released in a few weeks. However, with two "Avengers" films and many more solo features from each of its heroes to come, comic book fans may need a breath of fresh air, which is why, while the superhero hype is still hot, DC Comics is also taking their sweet time assembling the Justice League, beginning with "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" in 2016, according to Screen Rant.
Here is the slate of DC releases, at least, until the "Justice League" film slate for 2017. Which ones are you most excited to see?
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (March 25, 2016)
The sequel to "Man of Steel," "Batman v Superman" sees both heroes at ends, but considering they're both part of the same league, we'll have to see how they will resolve their issues. The film stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, with Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Jason Momoa introduced as Aquaman. The film, helmed by Zack Snyder, will be the first to be released for the upcoming Justice League collaboration.
Suicide Squad (August 5, 2016)
Why should the heroes get all the fame? "Game of Thrones" author George RR Martin said that we are all heroes in our own stories, after all. A secret government agency has recruited imprisoned supervillains to execute black ops missions, and it stars Jared Leto as the Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang. This should be an interesting turn of events, right?
Wonder Woman (June 23, 2017)
The very brief synopsis on IMDB simply read, "An Amazon princess comes to the world of Man to become the greatest of the superheroines." While not much has been revealed about the standalone film, Gal Gadot will star alongside Steve Trevor in a Zack-Snyder produced film set for 2017.
Justice League (November 17, 2017)
Earth's greatest heroes will form the Justice League as heroes combine forces to combat a threat that is beyond their standalone capabilities. Starring the cast from their standalone movies, Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, and Jason Momoa will reprise their roles as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Lois Lane, and Aquaman in the film.
After the first "Justice League" film, more will follow, with "The Flash" and "Aquaman" set to be released in 2018, "Shazam" and "Justice League 2" for 2019, an "Cyborg" and "Green Lantern" for 2010.
