When you're as hot as Adam Levine, it's likely that you will have a lot of female fans. If you're as hot as Adam Levine and in a band as cool as Maroon 5, then it's even more likely that someone will try to attack you onstage.
Yes, that happened. In a report from the "Today" show's website, Adam had a scary encounter with a fan who decided to go upstage to attack the singer, probably wanting to give him a hug or a kiss or something. The Marron 5 frontman handled it well, though, wrapping his arms around her in a hug, before he sent her off with someone from security.
Adam was at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, when the woman climbed onto the stage in her high heels and tried to cling on to "The Voice" coach as she started to wrap her arms around his neck.
Despite the smooth way that he played it, Adam admitted how it really made him feel, as he said after the song wrapped up, "You're singing, and your eyes are closed, and you have this beautiful moment. And then the next thing you know someone's ... in your face. Super terrifying." He also added that his ear had been cut by the woman's fingernails, which prompted fans to sympathize with him in a collective "Awww..."
He should have seen this coming, considering that one of the band's hit singles include "Animals," and they said it so themselves in the lyrics: "Maybe you think that you can hide/I can smell your scent from miles,."
This is a case of the hunter becoming the hunted, right?
Fans took the events to Instagram and Twitter, praising the singer about the way he handled the situation. As one pointed out, "Just witnessed @adamlevine getting attacked by a fan who rushed the stage. Scary. But he played it off like a pro. #whew" Videos of the incident were posted on Instagram, with one capturing most of what happened. Check it out here.
According to CBS News, the performance is the last for Maroon 5's tour as "The Voice" will begin taping again soon and Adam will go back to his role as a mentor on the reality TV Show.
What can you say about Adam's reaction to his overzealous fan? More musicians should handle these types of incidents the same way, don't you think?
