A Mariah Carey-themed Christmas movie is in the works.

The songstress is partnering up with New Line Cinema, producer Jon Shestack, and her rumored boyfriend Brett Ratner's RatPac Entertainment for the project, Deadline reported.

According to the news outlet, the film came about from writers David Diamond and David Weissman which was based on a story idea that Carey brought to Ratner. An official plot synopsis isn't available yet, but Deadline wrote that the film will be about the festive holiday with a theme centering on "how the power of music can transport you back in time to your truest and most authentic feelings."

The movie will feature songs from Carey and other artists, the news outlet reported. The 45-year-old singer's 1994 Christmas tune "All I Want for Christmas Is You" was a worldwide hit and has sold more than 14 million copies internationally. The track was also recognized as one of Christmas' staple tunes and has become "the biggest international hit of Carey's career."

Aside from singing, Carey also starred in films such as 2009's "Precious" and 2013's "The Butler," Variety wrote. Ratner, on the other hand, previously worked with Diamond and Weissman in 2000 when he directed the movie "The Family Man."

Just recently, photographs of Carey and Ratner have fueled speculations about the real status of their relationship. According to a report by E! News  , the songstress and the "X-Men: The Last Stand" director was photographed while shopping in St. Barts with another female friend recently, during their birthday celebration weekend. Carey was born on March 27 while Ratner, 46, was born March 28,  the outlet noted.

Ratner's representatives, however, quickly put a stop to the rumors going around about his alleged dating status with the singer. In a statement told to People, the filmmaker's camp said, "They have been best friends for a very long time."

The duo's double birthday bash took place in an extravagant soiree on a yacht on Sunday night. TMZ  posted a photo of the pair together getting really close while sitting on a cushion with the director's arm around Carey. Sources claim that they were in "full on couple mode" and that "she's totally into him and he is nuts for her." Hours later, the gossip site posted another photo showing Ratner making out with another girl who is definitely not Carey.

The rumored couple has been spotted hanging out together on several occasions ever since Carey parted ways with husband of six years, Nick Cannon, E! News noted.
