A potential teaser website for Fallout 4 may indicate that a big announcement about the game is due very soon, and could officially confirm the game's existence despite developer Bethesda's refusal to talk about the game.

The website in question, TheSurvivor2299.com, features a bunch of nonsense written on the top of the page and a countdown timer. However, the phrase "Nuclear winter has come" recently appeared on the page. The countdown timer is set to expire on Dec. 11, indicating that whatever the website is supposed to tease will be revealed on that date. Morse code plays over the website, also reflecting the countdown date that the website hints at.

There is some debate if this website truly is for Fallout 4, or something else entirely. IGN reveals that the website domain is registered to ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Fallout and Elder Scrolls developer Bethesda. However, the website uses its own server, and the domain name was registered with GoDaddy.com, a different domain name service than ZeniMax usually uses for their websites. In addition, the Corporate Service Company's Corporate Domains Inc promotion that appears on whois directory pages for TheSurvivor2299 does not list any other ZeniMax domain names. All of this could indicate that this teaser website is a hoax, or that Bethesda and ZeniMax are working on something else entirely.

If this website is run by ZeniMax, but it is not for a new Fallout game, then what other possible options are there? It is not likely a teaser for a new Elder Scrolls game; the overall aesthetic of the website doesn't match the swords and sorcery of the series. Wolfenstein seems to be a more likely choice, but the game has already been announced and has been previewed extensively, so there would be little point in having a teaser website for the game. That could leave room for a new IP from Bethesda to emerge, possibly as their first next-gen entry. However, Bethesda and ZeniMax have given no hints at creating a new series, so it may be unlikely that the website is suggesting that.

With the details available, it looks as though the only options for TheSurvivor2299 is that the game is hinting at a new Fallout game, or it is a hoax meant to vex gamers and fans of the series.
