The next Apple devices are bound to pack A9 processors under their hoods, if recent reports are to be believed.

As told by Bloomberg, people with "direct knowledge of the matter" claimed that Samsung, Apple's long-time competitor, will manufacture the main chip of the next iPhone. Production is noted to kick off at the company's Giheung plant in South Korea.

According to the outlet, the sources asked to remain anonymous as the contract wasn't discussed in public.

If this holds truth, Samsung looks to be in position of reclaiming a spot previously lost to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC). Apple signed a production deal with TSMC back in 2013, MacRumors said, toning down its reliance on the Korean electronics giant.

Samsung appears to be in advantage, allegedly, for having advanced 14-nanometer process. This is said to yield smaller chips that utilize less energy.

MacRumors cited "other devices" reportedly owning similar chips, and as far as rumor mills are concerned, we're yet to see the iPad Air 3, iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro (iPad Air Plus) and sixth-generation iPod touch. All these devices are speculated to arrive before 2016 sets in.

The iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone 6c are likewise touted to launch this year, NDTV cited. The iPhone 6s models are touted to pack A9 chips, while the 4-inch iPhone 6c is believed to sport an A8 processor.

Rumors long have it that the iPad Air 3 will pack an A9 chip, coupled by 2 GB of RAM. Load The Game even heard that instead of an Air sequel, the device will be called "iPad 7."

Purportedly launching beside iOS 9, the iPad Air 3 is speculated to come with an upgraded, 4K resolution, or that which approaches a 401 ppi density found in the iPhone 6 Plus. Followers hope to see improved camera features, though not necessarily a bump in megapixels.

For those who may not know, the new operating system is expected on the second half of this year, the Inquisitr reported.

The device is also expected to come with a 7-inch screen, 3 GB of RAM, 5 mm thickness, 4G connectivity, 128 GB on-board memory, waterproofing and dust-proofing features, Innov8tiv wrote.

Alternatively, International Business Times wrote that the iPad Air 3 may even come with an A9X chip.

Most rumors regarding the device's pricing have not set a definite tag, but for an insight, the PCAdvisor noted, "It's likely that the iPad Air 3 will cost around the same as the iPad Air 2 does now." For its 16 GB Wi-Fi version, the iPad Air 2 is priced for $499, while the Wi-Fi + Cellular model sells for $629 at the same capacity.
