Developed under the moniker "Lettuce," the OnePlus Two, successor to 2014's OnePlus One, is expected to arrive in this year's second or third quarter, Know Your Mobile reported.

The information comes from OnePlus' CEO Carl Pei, who confirmed, "OnePlus 2 should be out in Q2 or Q3 of 2015. By that time, I'd think Android L would be standard."

The device has been stirring speculations for quite some time now, and most recently, it is touted to pack a fingerprint identification system that looks to be different from what we know today.

Citing leaked information from GizmoChina, BGR wrote that the OnePlus Two will ship with "a laser focus fingerprint identification embedded in the home button."

Such "laser focus" technology has not been elaborated, though "regular capacitative" buttons -- Android 5.0 buttons, reportedly -- are also believed to pack on the sides of the hardware.

Looking at predecessor OnePlus One, Know Your Mobile assumed that the upcoming device will be a "high-end" smartphone, sporting "decent" specs and wider LTE support.

An expanded LTE coverage is most certainly appreciated. At this point, users would know that the OnePlus One supports 4G bands 1, 3, 4, 7, 17, 38 and 40. Carl addressed the device's lack of band 20 in an earlier thread, explaining that "all LTE is not created equal."

According to Know Your Mobile, David Sanmartin, OnePlus' marketing director, has confirmed in a Reddit thread that the smartphone will exclude a removable battery and microSD support.

"Removable battery = smaller battery," the rep said. "Having extremely competitive battery life will always remain a priority."

Allegedly, the device pegs to be more expensive than its predecessor, though no specific figures are out as of this writing. For an insight, it is said that the handset will be a "different phone with a different price."

As told by TechRadar, OnePlus is yet to detail whether the upcoming smartphone retails through an invite-only system, just like the One.

The OnePlus Two is touted to come with a 5.5-inch display, 4 GB of RAM, Qualcomm Snapragon 805 / 810, 32 GB of onboard storage, 3100 mAh battery cell, 16 MP main camera and 5 MP front snapper. It is expected to run OnePlus' very own Android-based operating system, the Oxygen OS.

In the meantime, OnePlus is noted to venture in the drone market through the DR-1. The drone is expected to release this month, TechnoBuffalo said.

Not much detail is known about the Chinese startup's drone, though TechnoBuffalo cited that it's believed to be special. The outlet also claimed that OnePlus is doing things "a little differently," and this might explain why there's always been great hype over its products.
