If recent leaks are to be believed, the rumored iPad Pro (aka iPad Air Plus) may come with an interesting port that opens to a number of possible features.
Images of what's thought to be a mockup version of the device are cited by MacRumors. The outlet is convinced that the mysterious port, found on one side of the hardware, could either be a secondary Lightning port or a USB-C port.
At this point, the port's function/s may only be speculated, but if predictions hold truth, it could support accessory connection and / or give room to multiple ways of charging.
Trusted Reviews said Apple may ditch Lightning once and for all, with USB-C as its favored replacement. Within the leaked case, the outlet cited presence of an earphone jack, a speaker grille, a microphone, a camera lens with light sensor and volume adjustment buttons.
The iPad Pro is touted to come with a large, 12.9-inch display, Phone Arena noted. Expected specifications include an Apple A8X or A9 chip, a USB 3.0 connector, a mouse, an optional keyboard and an optional stylus.
Word about the stylus accessory appears to have sprung from KGI Securities' Ming Chi Kuo. In another article, Phone Arena took note of the analyst's remarks, who said, "We don't foresee significant sales of an optional stylus in 2015 and forecast unit shipments of 2-2.5 million. But we believe that the stylus could improve the experience of users, however, and will likely help Apple develop specific customer groups such as the corporate sector and educational institutions."
Reportedly, the analyst is convinced that the stylus will be out in the second quarter of 2015, which puts April as the earliest time.
Interestingly, the iPad Pro is purported to arrive by April as well, along with the likewise-rumored iPad Mini 4, the Inquisitr wrote in January. However, another side of the story pegs the device to launch in the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), expected to take place in June.
For those who may not know, the slate is also suggested to start from 12.2 inches, packing 2 GB of RAM and Touch ID feature.
At this point, the device's price has not been confirmed, but for an insight, TechRadar predicted that it retails "somewhere between the iPad Air and MacBook Air."
The iPad Air currently starts from $399 for its space gray and silver models. The MacBook Air, on the other hand, starts from $899 for its 11-inch version; the 13-inch model retails from $999.
