Is "X-Men: Apocalypse" the end of the franchise?

Hopefully not, but with Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, and Hugh Jackman bowing out of the film franchise save for their last signed contracts, it seems that it is the end of the "X-Men" era... Until a reboot, of course.

According to Movie Pilot, it seems that there are signs that after nearly two decades, the "X-Men" franchise is ready to take on new characters, or get a new take on their characters, whichever Marvel will decide.

The website offered some proof that the mutants are due for some rebooting and recasting, starting with the fact that Hugh Jackman is officially saying goodbye to his Adamanium claws after "Wolverine 3".

A televisions series is also in the works, and while 20th Century Fox holds the rights to the film, Marvel will have to sign off, which means that there might be quite a wait before we will see the mutants on the small screen.

Simon Kinberg, who wrote "X-Men: Days of Future Past" said that a television series may be a good idea for the franchise. He said, "We're still in this place of figuring out what the future of the franchise will be, but when you look at 'SHIELD' to some extent and what Marvel is doing now with 'Daredevil,' it makes sense to tell some of these stories on TV partly because there's just not enough screens to do all these characters, and also because the serialized format of comic books is better suited for TV."

But before we say goodbye to the Hugh Jackman era of X-Men, there are still a lot of things to learn before "Apocalypse" premieres, starting with the fact that according to Screen Rant, Angel has been confirmed to join the ranks of mutants that we all came to know. This has also been confirmed by director Bryan Singer, who decided to use social media websites to announce updates.

Psylocke is also noted to make an appearance, however, as to who will be playing him is still a question left unanswered.

Joining the likes of Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Jackman, and James McAvoy are newcomers to the series that includes younger versions of the main cast --- Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, and just last week it was announced that Lana Condor will be taking on the role of Jubilee.
