Microsoft's Lumia 940, the alleged successor to last year's Nokia Lumia 930, is pegged to ship with an interesting feature that appears to let users experience a more convenient interface.
This feature is none other than Mixview, the subject of earlier reports, purported to arrive with the Nokia McLaren that has never seen the light of day.
The latest information comes from WindowsBlogItalia, which seems to be successful in discovering information that reveals how the Mixview feature supposedly worked in the McLaren.
Mixview is reportedly composed of a central small tile surrounded by eight other outlying tiles, wmpoweruser.com noted. These tiles may have a combination of text and images, activated by hovering over the smaller tile.
Meanwhile, non-3D Touch devices are activated by "touching a corner area of the tile with ellipses instead," wmpoweruser.com indicated. The central tile is pointed to have a measurement of 150 x 150 pixels.
Interestingly, wmpoweruser.com is convinced that the feature could pack in the Lumia 940.
To date, high expectations aimed at the Lumia 940 and the likewise-rumored Lumia 1030 are all over the internet grapevine. Despite loud rumors, Microsoft has been quiet concerning its next flagships, though it is known that no high-end Lumia smartphone may be out unless Windows 10 is up and running.
Neil Broadley, Microsoft's Director of Phone Marketing, said in a statement, "We remain completely committed and focused on new flagship products."
"That said, certainly we believe the best time to bring those flagship devices to market is when we have our very latest flagship software experience available. We're focusing our flagship development for slightly later when Windows 10 is available," Broadley assured.
Citing information from Phone Arena, iTWire.com noted some of the Lumia 940's alleged specs and features, which include a 5-inch full HD display, Gorilla Glass 4 protection, 2.7 GHz Snapdragon processor, 3 GB of RAM and support for Gobi global LTE, WLAN, NFC, Wi-FI dual band AC and USB 3.0.
The device allegedly comes in 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB storage options. Its dimensions are touted to come at 137 x 71 x 8.9mm, while its weight is assumed at 149 g.
With regards to photography specs, the Lumia 940 is believed to own a 24 MP (others tell 30 MP) PureView main camera, with 4K video recording expected at 60 fps. Its front snapper, on the other hand, is said to capture at 5 MP, with 1080 p video recording capabilities.
iTWire.com said, "These are very similar specifications to the Samsung and Apple flagships phones."
As previously reported, the device looks to have its own docking station and an iris scanner.
The PCAdvisor predicted that the Lumia 940 will "likely have a similar price" as its predecessor.
