"Star Wars" actor Mark Hamill will be appearing in the next "The Flash" episode titled "Tricksters," portraying one of the most iconic DC Villains - The Trickster himself, a role which he originally played in "The Flash" series in 1990 which lasted only one season.
The official synopsis of the 17th episode (via Screen Crush) describes a new villain using the name "Trickster" and he has been setting off explosives in the city. Barry and Joe speak with the original Trickster, James Jesse, who has been in prison for the last twenty years, and enlisted his help in stopping the copycat.
However, things take a turn for the worst when the two Tricksters joined forces in kidnapping Barry's father, Henry Allen, played by John Wesley Shipp, the original Flash from the 90s.
According to Hypable, Hamill admitted that he's been watching the new "The Flash" series since the first episode, and had often wondered if they'll ever get around to introducing the Trickster. Then he shared, "I got a call from my business people saying that they wanted me to do something on 'The Flash.'"
Hamill also said that he was expecting to play Henry Allen's colleague, or at least an older role, but when he spoke with executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, he was sold on reprising the role he once played.
Hamill is not the only one that fans are looking forward to seeing in the next few episodes. The possibility of "Flashpoint" has been spreading through the fan communities. In the comic book series, "Flashpoint" sees a major story arc that will influence many of the events of the show.
According to Screen Rant, in "Flashpoint," Barry had to run faster than ever to save the earth, but he died and "stayed dead for over 30 years," eventually getting resurrected in a completely different resurrection story, most notably, that his mother was no longer killed by a faceless speeding man, but Eobard Thawne, AKA Reverse Flash.
However, with Barry saving his mother, Flashpoint is set on an alternate future, Screen Rant added, one where Bruce Wayne was shot to death intead of his parents, and where Superman's crash landing leveled a city, with Barry eventually going back in time to allow his mother's death.
With only a few episodes left until the end of the first season, though, production may use the remaining time to establish the "Flashpoint" angle, but for now, we can look forward to seeing Mark Hamill play the villain again before he will be unmasked as the possible villain in "Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens."
"Tricksters" will air on Tuesday at 8PM on the CW.
