Some people will do just about anything to snag a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

According to WISH TV in Indianapolis, Ind., two robbers attempted to storm into the local Gamestop and steal every Xbox One console in stock. Unfortunately, the console was sold-out. The disappointed thieves then brought employees to the back room, and tyed them up with zip ties so they could rip the security cameras off the walls. The thieves then decided to take nine PlayStation 4 consoles instead for a haul worth $3,600. It is unclear why the thieves wanted the Xbox One over the PlayStation 4, but the most likely explanation is that the Xbox One retails for a higher price than the PlayStation 4, so the robbers figured they would receive more money for those consoles. The two men are still at large.

Meanwhile, a father in Colorado Springs attempted to buy the PlayStation 4 from a man who posted a Craigslist ad trying to sell the console, according to The Colorado Springs Gazette. The father was looking to buy the PlayStation 4 for his son, so he answered the ad and agreed to meet the man at a motel to make the sale. Once the two men met, the father gave the money over to the man before checking to see the contents of the box. When he opened the box, he found nothing but towels. The father tried to confront the con man, but the man fled to a getaway car in the parking lot and took off. Police did not provide how much money the father lost.

Two things can be learned from these stories. One: the new wave of consoles is driving many to outlandish extremes. Two: always check what you're buying before giving the seller money, especially if you're answering a Craigslist ad and meeting the seller in a motel.
